The gauntlet has been thrown down, global commerce faces its greatest challenge yet; the natural limits of our planet to sustain us on it. The success of our species leads us to the inevitable evolutionary consequence. Our population is becoming unsustainable. The Treaty of Rome and the UN Charter of Human Rights was intended to afford each and every human being an inalienable group of rights including shelter and freedom of movement. Under the Treaty of Rome developed nations were obliged to donate a fraction of their wealth to less fortunate countries in the name of stability and sustainability. |

Decades later, the conclusion of government reports in the media is that our way of life is not sustainable. The Treaty of Rome was not adhered to and the global economy faces issues of sustainability. There have been all kinds of efforts such as Kyoto to address problems such as pollution. In reality the best they have achieved is the formation of carbon indices and markets by which we may only quantify the damage we are doing rather than measurably improve on the situation. |
