Global technology firm Caparo, founded by NRI (Non
Resident Indian) businessman Lord Swraj Paul, will exhibit at
Auto Expo (New Delhi, January 10 - 17) for the first
time this year. Led by Hon Angad Paul (CEO),
the company intends to be India’s largest
automotive technology supplier by 2009.
Caparo will also show its breathtaking hypercar,
the T1, which uses a mix of Formula 1
and road-car technology to create the
ultimate track-biased production car.
“This is an important year for Auto Expo, with
its new Organisation Internationale des
Constructeurs d’Automobiles (OICA) accreditation,
and for Caparo,” says Caparo chief
executive officer Angad Paul. “The
Group already has 22 sites and more
than 2,000 direct employees in India,
with a further nine sites planned.
This year we are announcing plans
to continue our rapid growth in
the country, with particular
emphasis on supporting India’s
thriving automotive sector.”
Caparo’s development in India
began in 1994 with a joint venture
with India’s largest car manufacturer,
Maruti Udyog, and has
continued with several new
wholly-owned ventures. The
company’s automotive business, Caparo Vehicle Products, has considerable expertise in forming light-weight
metal products (including stamping, forging, machining and
aluminium castings), in fasteners and high-precision tubing,
as well as in systems and module |

integration, carbon composite
structures and high-performance braking systems.
“We have a deep and growing capability in vehicle technologies,
supported by local design and manufacturing facilities,”
says Paul. “Our world-class products and expertise can be
used to help deliver sophisticated, globally competitive
vehicles, or to create low-cost vehicles that most people can
afford. With our new Caparo Vehicle Products business
coordinating the entire resources of Caparo worldwide to
benefit the automotive industry, we are perfectly positioned
to support this exciting period of rapid development in the
Indian auto industry.”
Global sales for Caparo Group reached US$1.5 billion in 2006
and are expected to reach US$ 2 billion by 2010. A cornerstone
of this success will be growth in India. “This is a great nation
with a huge number of highly talented, highly educated
people. We are tapping into this extraordinary resource to
help deliver something very special for companies manufacturing
here,” explains Paul.
“Caparo can help vehicle manufacturers add value in numerous
ways, for example by helping them design lighter, more
fuel efficient, safer and cheaper custom built products that
will be more attractive to customers. It’s a strategy that has
already made us the only company to supply every company
manufacturing vehicles in India.”
