One quarter of the workforce power at Lotus goes on producing a Lotus, the remainder of the work force’s time is purchased by other companies who wish they could build cars like this but won’t tell us that. For this reason as well as the motor racing Heritage of the company, the Lotus site feels more like a Technology park than a manufacturing site. The on site race track does little to detract a ttention from the experience of visiting Group Lotus and the Consultancy called Lotus Engineering. Replete with a hairpin, chicane and the boyhood dream of a long straight the race track provides myriad forms of turns, surfaces and challenges in what Lotus describe as a race track with ‘character’. After having driven it, I prefer the term race track with ‘attitude’ or to those inclined to think of it this way, simply ‘tude’. Recounting the experience of the Lotus race track facility does I suspect usually entail the use of the vernacular.
