Allison’s proven transmission is popular in many applications but the distribution sector is fast becoming the most popular for the automatic gearbox. “An Allison transmission provides excellent manoeuvrability at low speeds, crucial when driving in congested urban environments or loading bays,” says Allison’s International Marketing Director Larry Love. “The vehicle is simple to drive: hands are left free to hold the steering wheel which makes the vehicle more manoeuvrable through busy city traffic. Customers also benefit from improved fuel efficiency and performance as a result of Allison’s torque converter technology and ability of the gearbox to make shifts without uninterrupt`ing engine power”
Allison’s latest transmission can also help operators increase payload. “The components of our 1000/2500 Series are lighter than

a comparable automated manual,” continues Love. “This benefit isn’t always realised by operators.”
The increased availability means that Iveco is able to offer a fully automatic option from 7.5t to 19t on the EuroCargo and across its range up to 26t including the Stralis. The EuroCargo announcement increases the growing partnership between Iveco and Allison, following a recent announcement of ASTRA HD8 Tipper offering an Allison
4000 Series automatic transmission and the ongoing availability of the Allison 3000 Series on the Stralis model.
