The SAE-UK Event in Harrogate in March 2007 pictured below is unique, firstly because it attracts generations of Company Leaders within the car and bus industry and also because it offers a sense of community along with whole supply chain which goes beyond networks and contacts.

Regarding this year's Supply Chain Event, John Foster FSAE-UK, current Northern Section Chairman, provides the following comment; whilst the people photographed opposite are enjoying themselves, the business of SAE-UK is a sober task of promoting educational training and standards in the design and production of virtually every kind of vehicle; land, sea and air. Primarily, through our events we provide access to knowledge in the case of Technical Lectures and experience and contact within the community of a Ball evening. I look forward to meeting you all at next year's event in Harrogate in March, 2008.

John Foster presented two longstanding Members of SAE-UK with their Fellow Certificates. The two members becoming Fellows were; Mr Russell Richardson MBE FSAE-UK (Pictured top left) and Mr Roy Schubert FSAE-UK (Pictured Top Right), both men have been supporters of the Society and itsevents. Indeed both of our two most recent Fellows have been instrumental in building the Bus Company Optare from a business start-up to a Company employing over 500 people over 2 sites in

the North. SAE-UK is delighted to confer the Status of Fellow on Mr Roy Schubert and Mr Russell Richardson MBE.

The SAE-UK Events Team; Nicole Alridge (Pictured Left) and Jon Masding delivered the message of our activities via Daylight Projector showing the Baja Student Competition and a Widescreen that presents on all of our activities from Membership, Publications, Shows, Lectures and Conferences as well as our Children's Engineering Training Program.

Finally, a word from the Northern Section Chairman, John Foster: “Our aim is to instill in the younger generation the aims and standards of the people who have taken the time to teach us - and before us our mentors. Consequently, each generation has an obligation to improve on aims and standards throughout their working lives lest the collective efforts of all the preceding generations be diminished. I call on all like minded individuals to play a role in the development of our industry by participating in our region. A first such step would be to make yourself known to us and attend our Local Section Meetings. All such concerned individuals are invited to contact me personally by email on info@sae-uk.org

SAE-UK events offer a rare opportunity to bring together suppliers, manufacturers, distributors and even end-users so that feedback traverses the entire length of the supply chain in one evening in a relaxed, prestigious and social setting.
