The theme of the 3rd Annual Swindon Science Festival was 'The Ugly Bug Ball'.
- Some 12 'feeder' schools were invited to attend over the 2 days.
- School course work had covered many different aspects of 'bug life' including habitat, development, camouflage, eating habits, life-cycles
- Pupils were invited to display their course work and also present back to the audience their key learning points in either a form of drama. dance, music or play.

SAE-UK were once again asked to hold workshop sessions in conjunction with Greendown Community School to support the event.
- It was proposed to get the pupils to make the 'jet-powered car' however they also had to 'dress up' their resulting 'vehicle' as a bug of some description.
- Over the 2 days, 4 workshops were held to do this with a mixture of schools and approx. 30 pupils in each workshop.
- The task had to be completed in approximately three-quarters of an hour - so key importance was emphasised to the pupils on the need for 'team-work'.
- Some quite intricate 'bugs' resulted from their efforts and some are demonstrated in the photographs supplied with this report.
- Suffice to say that all of the pupils enjoyed the activities and used the materials supplied to create some excellent models.
- Dave Cleverly's son, Jonathan, held workshops with a variety of his 'real-life' bugs including Mantids, Stick Insects, Cockroaches and many more additional creatures e.g. A Python and Geckos.
- Other workshops included a 'World of Colour' session where pupils were able to 'experiment' with different liquids e.g. vinegar etc. to produce colour arrays and understand how dramatic colour effects could be produced.
Each day of the 2 days sessions were judged individually to find a winner and each daily winner was awarded £100 in vouchers for
