Tudor Grange School, in Solihull, has been competing in the Formula Schools Electric challenge since 2003. The challenge is to create a remote controlled electrically powered car to compete against other schools. It is an extra curricula, after school, activity and is offered to year 9 and 10 pupils. Tudor Grange's entrant, “Team TG” has been overall winners for the past two years.
Conekt, based at global top ten automotive parts supplier, TRW's Technical Centre on Stratford Road, Shirley, has been engineering solutions since the 1960s, as well as developing technology for electric vehicles.
“Conekt is supporting Tudor Grange in recognition for its achievement in gaining pole position in the Formula Schools Electric Challenge, which is no mean feat when you consider that the staff and pupils design and compete out of school hours” explained James Godwin of Conekt's marketing communications team. “By sponsoring Tudor Grange we will be helping Team TG to maintain its lead. We wish the staff and pupils the best of luck”.
“Race Day 2007 will be held on Thursday June 14th at the world famous Silverstone racing circuit and the pupils are working hard to engineer a winner” said Holly Dennis, community development manager of Tudor Grange School.
