The working life of people in motorsport is a largely unknown affair, the motorsport fan doesn't really know what happens behind the scenes, neither for that matter does the budding mechanic or engineer. So after a lot of research and surfing the net Racemech.com was created with the sole intention of showing the unseen side of motorsport.


From that early thought process, several key objectives for the site were put in place: to show the human side of the sport which in this highly corporate world has been overlooked for far too long, and to help youngsters get into the sport.


Motorsport has in my opinion has become very sanitised - with the pitlane restrictions, and the cost of tickets, how is an impressionable 13 year old able to get the real sense of what motorsport is all about? Long gone are the days of wandering down the pitlane at Silverstone during an F1 tyre test, meeting your heroes and getting the chance to get a peek into the back of the garage to see where the real action is.


Hopefully Racemech.com will go some way to addressing these vexing issues. The Gallery is an example of what we want to achieve through the site, the photographs on the gallery are basically a mechanic with a small digital camera in his/her top pocket, this gives a spontaneous, factory floor feel to the pictures, and therefore a totally unique view of the proceedings.
